A delegation from the World Bank, led by the Task Team Leader (TTL) for the Kenya Jobs and Economic Transformation (KJET) Project, Dr. Ahmed Rostom, and accompanied by Co-TTL Leah Kiwara, Ryan Kuo, and Asta Bareisaite, conducted a monitoring visit to Kangari United and Kigoro Dairy Cooperatives in Murang’a County to assess the ongoing KJET Cohort 1 Business Development Services (BDS) classroom training.
During the visit, the team observed active training sessions, interacted with cluster representatives, and noted the practical application of the curriculum delivered under the program. They highlighted the importance of maintaining the quality and consistency of delivery as the training continues nationwide. They commended the Micro and Small Enterprises Authority (MSEA) for the successful rollout, strong coordination across counties, and the high level of participation and enthusiasm demonstrated by MSME clusters.

This nationwide exercise is equipping selected MSME clusters with practical business development skills aimed at enhancing enterprise performance, increasing productivity, and building long-term competitiveness. The training covers essential modules in business operations, financial management, marketing, leadership, and innovation, preparing enterprises to access new opportunities, improve their operational efficiency, and grow sustainably.
Component 2 of the KJET project aims to strengthen the productivity and growth of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) clusters operating within priority value chains identified under the Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda. Through structured BDS support and targeted co-investment, the component is designed to stimulate enterprise development, improve market access, and support the creation and improvement of jobs.
