SITE VISIT BY THE WORLD BANK REGIONAL DIRECTORS TO NDUMBERI DAIRY FARMERS COOPERATIVE SOCIETY LIMITED

World Bank team led by Hassan Zaman, Regional Practice Director for the Prosperity Vice Presidency for Eastern and Southern Africa, Qimiao Fan Division Director Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, and Uganda and Alwaleed Alatabani, Practice Manager, Finance, Competitiveness and Innovation (FCI), East Africa visited the Ndumberi Dairy Farmers Cooperative Society one of the clusters operating in the dairy value chain which is a priority value chain under the Kenya Jobs and Economic Transformation (KJET) Project.

During the visit, the team toured the production facility, witnessed a live business development training session, and engaged in strategic discussions on enhancing sustainability and impact of the value addition project.

The Cooperative is a cluster of Dairy farmers that deals with collection and processing of dairy milk in Kiambu County. The cluster has over 5000 registered farmers who supply over 23,000 litres of milk daily that is processed into Pasteurized milk, mala (fermented) milk and yoghurt under the brand name Winners. This value addition has created employment for 110 staff and 70 casual staff.

Through the KJET project, MSEA will be building up MSMEs capabilities and competitiveness through training and co-investment support along priority value chains to spur growth and development among Associations and Cooperatives.
