GRASSROOT SENSITIZATION ON MSEA PROJECTS AND INITIATIVES

MSEA, in collaboration with the Office of the County Commissioner and the Machakos County Woman Representative, recently conducted a successful sensitization forum in Mwala Sub-County for over 300 youth, aimed to raise awareness about various empowerment programs spearheaded by MSEA to promote the growth and formalization of micro and small enterprises (MSEs) in the region.

The forum was graced by Hon. Joyce Kasimbi Kamene, the Machakos County Woman Representative, and Assistant County Commissioner Christine, representing the Deputy County Commissioner (DCC). Evans Bullut, MSEA’s Lead Coordinator for the Kenya Jobs and Economic Transformation (KJET) Program, introduced participants to key initiatives, including the NYOTA Program, KJET, group registration support, and equipment distribution.

A key highlight of the event was the NYOTA Program, which offers Business Development Services (BDS) training, mentorship, and access to startup capital. Participants were guided through the application process, with some completing their applications on-site. Successful applicants receive capital in two tranches and are paired with mentors to support their business journeys. The KJET Program was also showcased, focusing on employment creation through value chain development in sectors such as edible oils, construction, textiles, dairy, tea, mining, and the blue economy. MSEA emphasized the importance of proper record-keeping and accountability for groups seeking funding and support.
