The Micro and Small Enterprises Authority (MSEA) has successfully concluded the first week of the Kenya Jobs and Economic Transformation (KJET) Project – Component 2: Enhancing Cluster Competitiveness Business Development Services (BDS) Classroom Training. The rollout, which began on 10th November 2025, took place simultaneously across ten counties, marking a strong and promising start to the nationwide training program.
The sessions drew enthusiastic participation from MSME clusters representing key value chains aligned with the Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA). Participants demonstrated keen interest and engagement throughout the training, which focused on equipping enterprises with the skills and knowledge necessary to improve business performance, enhance productivity, and expand market opportunities.
The week’s training featured an intensive and interactive curriculum comprising 12 core modules designed to strengthen enterprise management and competitiveness. Facilitators guided participants through hands-on exercises, group discussions, and case studies reflecting real business challenges and practical solutions within their respective clusters.

Pictorial highlights from classroom sessions in week 1
Following the classroom training, each participating cluster will transition into a phase. During this period, clusters will receive personalized mentorship support with a total of 14 hours of in-person engagement per cluster.
The mentorship sessions are designed to reinforce the classroom lessons by providing tailored guidance on real-world business challenges, helping clusters to apply new knowledge, refine operational practices, and monitor progress. This hands-on approach will ensure that the learning is sustained and translated into measurable enterprise growth and improved job outcomes.
With Week One now concluded successfully, preparations are already underway for Week Two, where training will expand to additional counties as part of the progressive rollout to all 47 counties nationwide. The next phases are expected to build on the lessons learned and momentum generated during the inaugural week.
MSEA continues to invite eligible cooperatives, associations, and cluster-based MSMEs to apply for Cohort 2 of the BDS Training, which remains open until 31st December 2025. Interested clusters are encouraged to apply early through the KJET Portal at https://kjet.msea.go.ke to benefit from this transformative project designed to enhance cluster competitiveness, improve business outcomes, and drive inclusive job creation across Kenya.
