SENSITIZATION ON MSEA PROGRAMMES AND PROJECTS IN FUNYULA

MSEA team in collaboration with the Office of the Member of Parliament Funyula Constituency Hon. Wilberforce Oundo carried out a sensitization session as part of the Mashinani outreach program on activities being implemented by the Authority for the growth and formalization of MSEs.

MSEA team led by the Corporation Secretary Madam Ruth Bikambo, Deputy Coordinator Kenya Jobs and Economic Transformation Project (KJET) Mr. Edward Munoru, Operations Manager National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) Mr. John Masha and Busia team took the youth through an interactive session on how to benefit from these projects and other interventions implemented by the Authority.

Speaking during the event, Hon. Oundo lauded MSEA for the NYOTA and KJET projects and urged the youth to embrace these opportunities to innovate and participate gainfully in economic activities. Addressing the beneficiaries, Mr. Munoru spoke on how the KJET project is tailored to build up MSMEs capabilities and competitiveness through training and Co-investment support along priority value chains to spur growth and development among Associations and Cooperatives. Mr. Masha explained to the youth NYOTA’s empowerment package which includes business development training, startup capital of up to Sh50,000, mentorship, and crucial linkages to markets and business support services with the goal to equip them with tools for long-term success and sustainability.

The occasion drew over 500 youth from Nangina, Nambototo/Nambuku, Bwiri and Agenga Nanguba wards. During the event, 5 youth associations namely Namuduru, Ganjala, Funyula, Siwongo and Mufumu were issued with car wash machines to further diversify their streams of income. MSEA in collaboration with the Office of the MP will Coordinate linkages between TVET centers and the Funyula Constituency Industrial Development Centre to onboard beneficiaries to benefit from common user machineries and incubation services to support their businesses. 

Also present during the event were representatives from Uwezo Fund, Youth Fund and Kenya Industrial Estates (KIE). MSEA is empowering MSEs to participate in value added activities by providing access to common user machinery as well as product development to transform the economy from the bottom up.
