Hon. Susan Auma Mang'eni

Hon. Susan Auma Mang’eni is the Principal Secretary of the newly established State Department of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Development under the Ministry of Cooperative and Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME). She is a governance and development expert with close to 15 years’ experience in both the private and public sectors in areas of strategic leadership, public policy formulation, analysis and implementation, enterprise development, institutional building, oversight, youth and women empowerment. Prior to her current appointment, Hon. Susan Mang’eni served on the Boards of the Youth Enterprise Development Fund (YEDF), Kenya Institute of Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA) and The Competition Tribunal of Kenya. She was also a member of the Working group on the socio-economic audit of the constitution of Kenya 2010, under the office of the Auditor General. In the Private sector, Hon. Susan Mang’eni has engaged in consultancies and discourses focused on socio-economic and political transformation across the country, region and beyond, gaining global perspectives and insights that continue to impact on her contributions in the public policy arena. She is also part of the team that participated in the economic visioning of the Kenya Kwanza Manifesto (The Plan), in particular her role in the development of Western Region Economic Blue Prints Document. Hon. Susan Mang’eni holds an MA in Entrepreneurship Development and a BA in Political Science and Public Administration both from the University of Nairobi. She is also, an alumnus of the 2011 International Visitors Leadership Programme (IVLP) a US State department Exchange programme. She is a network member of the Mandela Institute for Development Studies (MINDS), the Women Democracy Network (WDN) and the Women Waging Peace International and the Pan African Movement.
