PS MANGENI LEADS NYOTA VALIDATION EXERCISE REACHING 10,000 YOUTH IN UASIN GISHU

The Principal Secretary, State Department for MSMEs Development Hon. Susan Mangeni, led the NYOTA Business Support validation exercise in Uasin Gishu County, joined by Moiben Member of Parliament Prof. Hon. Bartoo Phylis Jepkemoi and MSEA Uasin Gishu Head CPA Alton Kogo. The exercise was conducted across Kapseret, Moiben, Kesses, Ainabkoi, Soi and Turbo constituencies, attracting an estimated10,000 youth.

The validation was supported by the Office of the County Commissioner, NGAO officers, the Youth Office and other state agencies working collaboratively to ensure smooth coordination of the process. The exercise upheld fairness and inclusivity by verifying applicants’ details and confirming representation from all wards. Similar validation activities were conducted concurrently across all counties in Kenya.

While addressing youth in Moiben Constituency, PS Mangeni expressed appreciation for their strong turnout and enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, noting that young people represent the next generation of industrialists and will play a key role in job creation. She emphasized that verification is critical in confirming applicants’ residency and ensuring equitable representation so that enterprises supported under the programme are rooted in local communities, thereby stimulating inclusive economic growth.

The PS further encouraged youth to complete the Entrepreneurship Aptitude Test (EAT), which has been extended to give more time to those who had not yet finalized it. She also highlighted the additional components of the NYOTA Program that will further support youth-led enterprise development.

MSEA continues to play a central role in implementing NYOTA Component 2, Expanding Employment Opportunities, ensuring that eligible young entrepreneurs receive the training, mentorship and business support needed to successfully establish and grow their enterprises.
