PARTNERSHIPS TOWARDS ENHANCING YOUTH EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

MSEA CEO Henry Rithaa and the management team hosted a delegation from ILO PROSPECTS led by Chief Technical Officer Caroline Njuki, Senior Specialist for Sustainable Enterprises, Productivity & Just Transition Jens Dyring, Informal Economy Specialist Annemaria Kiaga, and National Programme Coordinator Lilyanne Ndinda.

Discussions focused on collaboration to enhance youth employment opportunities, particularly through the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) project, which will support vulnerable youth across all 47 counties, and the Kenya Jobs and Economic Transformation (KJET) project, which aims to strengthen priority sector value chains under the BETA Agenda.

Key areas of synergy include boosting productivity through NYOTA project interventions, implementing Start & Improve Your Business (SYB) capacity-building training for Business Development Officers, promoting MSE formalization and registration at the grassroots level, and providing technical support for cluster development.

This partnership will also champion life-cycle approaches, ensuring that Kenyan youth benefit from multisectoral ecosystems designed to create sustainable employment opportunities.
