EMPOWERING LOCAL ENTERPRENEURS IN KURESOI NORTH

MSEA in collaboration with the Office of the Member of Parliament for Kuresoi North Constituency conducted a sensitization forum to raise awareness on government initiatives implemented by MSEA that are supporting MSEs at the grassroots level.

Addressing the MSEs during the event, Hon. Alfred Mutai, MP for Kuresoi North emphasized the importance of the Kenya Jobs and Economic Transformation (KJET) project, particularly opportunities within the dairy value chain and encouraged cooperative members to actively participate. He also highlighted other government interventions such as the Uwezo Fund, machine issuance by MSEA and the NYOTA Program, urging the youth to leverage these opportunities for self-employment. He commended the rollout of such impactful initiatives to the grassroots noting that his office will be working with MSEA to ensure that these services reach more people in the constituency.

Speaking at the event, Eng. Edward Karani, MSEA Director Infrastructure, urged participants to register and work in associations, stressing the benefits of shared resources, market access, and collective growth. He called on MSEs to embrace technology and innovation to improve competitiveness and also underscored the MSME Policy 2025 as a tool that empowers even grassroots entrepreneurs to influence economic development through public-private partnerships.

Leah Jebiwott, MSEA Nakuru Regional Head, briefed participants on the Authority’s key interventions, including association registration, Enterprise Development Centres (EDCs), access to common user machinery, and market linkages. Participants actively engaged in discussions on the NYOTA and KJET programs, with some completing their NYOTA applications during the session.

As part of the forum, several MSE associations were issued with equipment to boost their productivity and competitiveness. The event was attended by the Deputy County Commissioner, Assistant County Commissioner, Constituencies Development Fund (CDF) Chairman, National Government Administrative Officers (NGAOs) and Uwezo Fund representatives.

The event served as a critical platform for knowledge-sharing and empowerment, encouraging local entrepreneurs to formalize, grow, and benefit from national programs designed to uplift small businesses and drive employment.
