REVOLUTIONIZING AGRIBUSINESS: THE SUCCESS STORY OF ALFA QUKU ENTERPRISE

Ms Magdalene Musembi, is the founder of Alfa Quku Enterprise, a pioneering poultry and vegetable farm that is transforming the agricultural industry. Utilizing a state-of-the-art solar-powered incubator with a capacity of 1,000 eggs, Magdalene specializes in hatchery operations and supplies high-quality chicks to her extensive network of farmers, many of whom have been trained at her farm. Her expertise extends to formulating her own feeds, which she integrates with fresh vegetables from her cone gardens, resulting in a harmonious and sustainable farming system.

The farm’s waste management system exemplifies Magdalene’s commitment to environmental sustainability. Poultry waste is converted into natural manure for her vegetable gardens, reducing waste and increasing yields.

Magdalene’s entrepreneurial spirit is truly inspiring. She took the bold step of leaving her formal job as a journalist to start her farm in Busia during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her determination and hard work have paid off, with her day-old chicks selling for 100, week-old chicks for 150, and month-old chicks for 300.

Alfa Quku Enterprise has become a market leader in the region, with Magdalene’s business growing through referrals and trade fairs. This year, she will represent Busia County at the prestigious Madaraka Day exhibition in Bungoma, where she will showcase her innovative farming practices and inspire others to follow in her footsteps.

What is even more impressive is Magdalene’s commitment to empowering women and youth in agriculture. She trains and mentors young farmers in poultry and vegetable farming, equipping them with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed.

To book and buy chicks or schedule a training session, Magdalene can be reached at 0726455346 or through the MSEA Busia office.
