Principal Secretary, State Department for MSMEs Development Madam Susan Mang’eni paid a courtesy call to Kisii County Governor H.E. Paul Simba Arati & Kisii County Commissioner Mr. Tom Anjere Were. Present during the meetings was MSEA DG/CEO Henry Rithaa & Youth Fund CEO Josiah Moriasi. The PS said the Ministry of Cooperatives & MSMEs Development is devoted in identifying opportunities available for micro, small and medium enterprises in the Counties to revitalise and stimulate the bottom economic agenda from the grassroots level. Identified areas of collaboration during the meeting included the following;-
1. Agricultural Value addition, especially traditional and indigenous products.
2. Formalization of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises associations
3. Youth empowerment though business grants i.e. KYEOP & upcoming NYOTA project
4. Processing of titles for land that houses the Constituency Industrial Development Centres (CIDCs)
5. Collaboration with Ministry of ICT for provision of public Wi-Fi to support online marketing of products.
6. Certification of products to meet local & international market standards.
The PS encouraged close collaboration between National Government, County Government, MSEA and Youth Fund in the realization of the Bottom up Economic Agenda (BETA)
