The MSEA Kiambu office actively participated in the three-day Open Mega Business Expo held from 24th to 26th November 2023, aiming to promote businesses and encourage the adoption of sustainable measures for enhanced brand resilience in the Kenyan market.

Mr. John Benson, Chief Executive Officer of the Open Mega Business Expo, officially opened the event and highlighted the pivotal role of MSMEs in the country’s GDP, emphasizing the need for recognition and support from both the private and public sectors.

Former CEC Trade of Kiambu County, Dr. Julie Kimemia, acknowledged the commendable efforts of the KNCCI Kiambu Chapter in supporting the MSME sector within the county. She recognized the sector is a transformative force capable of reshaping the socio-economic narrative of the country.

Mr. Richard Ndung’u, Chairman of KNCCI Kiambu Chapter, emphasized the chamber’s significant role in supporting the MSMEs through advocacy, access to finance, market linkages, and youth job creation. He urged MSMEs to register as members to fully benefit from these initiatives.

Caroline Kioko, MSEA AG Director Business Development Marketing and Trade, commended the Open Mega Business Expo for facilitating market access for MSMEs and outlined the Authority’s mandate in supporting the sector. She highlighted MSEA’s pivotal role in the upcoming EAC MSME Expo in Bujumbura, Burundi, encouraging MSMEs to visit the MSEA stand for registration.

Meru County Senator Kathuri Murungi MGH, and the Deputy Speaker of the Senate, lauded the initiatives of MSEA in empowering Micro and Small Enterprises, aligning with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA). He engaged with exhibitors, particularly praising the Baraka Women Center for their exceptional artistry in handbags, wallets, sisal ‘vyondos,’ and palm tree organizers. The Senator emphasized MSEA’s role and urged exhibitors to explore opportunities at the MSEA stand, including the upcoming EAC MSMEs Trade Fair.

Mr. Peter Muli, the MSEA Kiambu Regional Head, provided insights into the core functions of the Authority, including capacity building, market linkages, and MSE formalization. He highlighted the MSEA Kariobangi Center of Excellence as a comprehensive hub for incubation and access to government services in the MSE ecosystem through the one-stop-shop, Biashara Centre. Mr. Muli encouraged MSMEs to register at the MSEA stand for participation in the upcoming EAC Trade Fair.

Senator Kathuri Murungi affirmed his commitment to supporting the MSME sector, urging everyone to leverage the expo for expanding networks and establishing market linkages.
