MSEA AND MAMA DOING GOOD STRATEGIC COLLABORATION

MSEA Director General Mr. Henry Rithaa, along with MSEA Director Corporate Services Simon Nyamolo, Senior Assistant Director Corporate Communication Elizabeth Mulae and Assistant Director Enterprise Development Evelyn Chemutai, convened a meeting with Dr. John Chumo, CEO of Mama Doing Good, and Stella Chepngeno, Mama Doing Good Director of Women Economic Empowerment. The purpose of the meeting was to explore areas of collaboration between MSEA and Mama Doing Good, focusing on key pillars such as women empowerment, environmental and climate action, financial inclusion, and feed diplomacy programs.

The collaborative efforts will include; financial inclusion, linking with MSEA on upcoming projects i.e. KJET and NYOTA, and capacity building in income generation, marketing, business management, and entrepreneurship. Infrastructure development, including leveraging CIDCs for processing and cold storage facilities to reduce post-harvest losses, will also be a shared focus.

Additional support will be equipping MSEs with machinery (e.g., welding and car wash machines) and promoting value addition. Finally, MSEA will also offer support in formalization of the women groups into association so that they can access government interventions. This collaborative effort holds great promise for the support of women within the MSE sector in Kenya.
