The Ministry of Industrialization, Trade and Enterprise Development in partnership with Kericho County Government conducted the inaugural enterprise expo at the Moi grounds, in Kericho. The expo brought together a host of Government agencies and business minds to decentralize information from agencies under the Ministry and give an opportunity for local enterprises in the county to showcase their services and products.
Speaking during the Expo launch, CS Betty Maina reiterated the Ministry’s efforts to support MSEs create innovative solutions for value addition while also addressing the existing gaps in the required standards and compliance.
‘’MSEs are the lifeblood of Kenya. Scaling up their production and quality is important to increase earning market opportunities for the sector,’’ said CS Betty Maina.
MSEA was represented at the expo with regional staff using the opportunity to sensitize MSEs on the mandate of the Authority and registration under the Office of the registrar of MSEs. The Authority also sponsored several MSEs from the County to exhibit at the expo, supporting their enterprises access market and expand their networks.
The week-long event also included a myriad of activities to further support local businesses. The activities involved; training MSEs on business development services, donating PPEs towards combating Covid-19, tree planting for environmental conservation and launching of the Londiani CIDC.
