MSEA Nairobi region, led by regional head Janet Kamotho, participating in the KUZA Biashara Summit and Expo, Nairobi Edition, that took place on June 6th and 7th, 2024. This event, organized by the Kenya Small, Micro Association of Traders (KESMAT) that is registered by the Registrar of MSEs within MSEA, is designed to promote partnerships and networking opportunities between Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) and key stakeholders from both the public and private sectors. The overarching goal of the summit was to facilitate the growth and development of MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) in Kenya.

During the event, Madam Janet Kamotho addressed the attendees, outlining the mandate of the MSEA and its various functions, which include:
Capacity Building: Providing training and development programs to enhance the skills and capabilities of MSEs.
MSE Registration: Highlighting the process of registering MSEs, now available on the E-citizen platform, making it easier and more accessible for businesses to formalize their operations.
Benefits of Registering MSEs: Advantages of registration, such as access to government support, funding opportunities, and formal recognition.
Infrastructure Development: Focusing on the development of Constituency Industrial Development Centers (CIDCs) to support MSEs with necessary facilities and infrastructure.
Role in Affordable Housing: MSEA’s involvement in the ongoing Affordable Housing projects, which aim to provide housing solutions while also engaging local MSEs in the process.
Partnerships: Emphasizing the importance of collaborations with both public and private institutions to support MSE growth.
Ongoing Projects: Initiatives like NYOTA and KJET, which are designed to support and uplift MSEs.

A diverse range of stakeholders attended the summit, including representatives from Nairobi County Government, regulatory bodies, financial institutions, and media organizations such as, Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS), Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), FinscoAfrica, Tie Events, Eleveta TV Kenya, I&M Bank, Equity Bank, Kingdom Bank and various invited Micro and Small Enterprises.
The event represents a significant opportunity for MSEs to connect with these organizations, gain insights, and explore potential collaborations that can drive their growth and success in the Kenyan market.
