KENYA HOSTS GALA DINNER FOR MSES

After a day filled with pomp a color during the Kenyan day celebrations, the Kenyan delegation and the MSEs were invited to a gala dinner organized by the Micro and Small Enterprises Authority. This provided a unique opportunity for the MSEs to unwind, network and share their experiences with the various leaders in the sector.

A representative from the Kenyan exhibitors thanked MSEA for the facilitation extended in terms of goods transportation to the trade fair, he said that this made their journey easier. He further acknowledged that the Trade Fair has given them an opportunity to learn from the exhibitors coming from the other Countries and broaden their market reach.

 The event was graced by the MSEA Board Chairman, Mr. James Mureu who emphasized on the need to re-invest in the MSE sector since it has remained resilient during the Covid-19 pandemic, providing employment to millions of Kenyans when companies were downsizing.

Present during the dinner was Director of Programmes, SME Advisory Unit, office of the President Ms. Noreen Nthiga who commended the efforts made by MSEA to better the MSE sector. She highlighted the various programs and development initiatives being implemented by MSEA; for example the product development programme (dubbed One Constituency (CIDC) One Product), with the first phase of the programme targeting specific products produced within the newly refurbished CIDCs., the authority is identifying locally available resources/materials in each constituency which can be value added for greater economic benefit. The value added products will then be marketed both locally and internationally.

 She acknowledged that most MSEs selected to come for exhibition here, are MSEs who show potential and have gone the extra mile to do value addition.

MSEA Director General Henry Rithaa thanked all the MSEs for good preparation in product development and the patriotism to showcase quality locally made Kenyan products and services. He acknowledged the support received from County Governments, The Ministry of Industrialization, Trade and Enterprise Development and other Multi agencies in making the event a success.

The Kenya day gala dinner concluded after the Kenya National Anthem was sang.
