1. What is KYEOP?
Kenya Youth Employment and Opportunities Project (KYEOP) is a transformational project that aims to empower and uplift the well-being of the youth in Kenya by equipping them with essential training, internship and business grant opportunities.
2. What role does MSEA play in KYEOP/ how do youth benefit from KYEOP?
MSEA is implementing the component 2; on Support for Job Creation through provision of business start-up grants and Business Development Services training to
vulnerable youth aged between 18-29 years.
3. Which counties are implementing the project?
The project aims to reach youth in urban and rural areas in the following 17 implementing counties; Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, Kwale, Kitui, Migori, Turkana, Kiambu, Kakamega, Kilifi, Nyandarua, Mandera, Machakos, Kisii, Bungoma and Wajir.
4. What is the edibility criteria and application process?
² Be a youth aged between 18-29
² Have education level of up to form four or below
² Not currently employed
² Not currently enrolled in school or planning to join in the next 8 months
5. What is the application process?
A call for application is done on National Newspapers and on our social media platforms. A link to apply is provided and all applications are received online. Apply here
6. What is the criteria for selecting KYEOP beneficiaries?
A computerized randomization process is used to pick / select successful applicants from the pool of applications that have been received by the last day of application process.
7. How are the selected youth notified?
The selected youth are notified through SMS from MSEA-KYEOP and invited for orientation. They must physically attend the orientation to proceed to the next phase.
8. How long after orientation should I wait to receive the first tranche?
The processing of funds take up to 8 weeks after orientation to be disbursed.
9. What has been causing the delay in disbursement of grants?
When you're invited for orientation, provide valid and active bank details where the grant will be disbursed to. Inactive accounts causes bounce backs and hence the delay.
10. I resubmitted my account details, when should I expect the grant?
If you resubmitted your details by end of October 2022, your funds have been disbursed to the accounts provided.
11. When will you disburse to cycle 8 beneficiaries?
We are currently processing their funds. They will receive the grant by mid- February, and we will communicate to them once we disburse.
12. Is there a certificate offered after the digital BDS training?
No, there are no certificates offered after the digital business development services training.
