5000 DIGITAL GOVERNMENT SERVICES UNVEILED

HE President Dr. William Ruto recently unveiled the groundbreaking e-Citizen platform, opening up Gava Mkononi App, and Gava Express, which houses 5000 government services, including registrar.msea.go.ke on msea.ecitizen.go.ke.

The launch event, held at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi, marked a significant milestone in improving service delivery and combating inefficiency, corruption, wastage, and discrimination.

With the introduction of the e-Citizen platform, President Ruto emphasized its inclusive nature, ensuring that previously marginalized communities will no longer be left out from accessing essential government services. The platform will offer multiple channels for access, including the convenient USSD code *2222# and the innovative Gava Express service, available at a vast network of M-Pesa, KCB, Equity, and Cooperative Bank shops. This will enable individuals without smartphones to benefit from the platform’s offerings.

Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Cooperatives and MSME Development Hon. Simon Chelugui, hosted President Dr. William Ruto during the momentous unveiling of 5000 digitized government services on E-citizen platform. Focusing on the remarkable achievements of the Hustler Fund, CS Chelugui highlighted that since its inception, the Hustler Fund has provided substantial support to aspiring entrepreneurs, with 70% of borrowers being youth under the age of 39, comprising 53% men and 47% women.

Emphasizing the power of public-private partnerships, CS Simon Chelugui stated that e-commerce has been significantly enhanced through these collaborations. ‘The seamless integration of digital technologies has revolutionized the accessibility and transparency of government services, empowering individuals to engage in online transactions and access the Hustler Fund without external influence.

Principal Secretary State Department for MSMEs Development Ms. Susan Mang’eni underscored the importance of formalizing MSEs through the efforts of the Micro and Small Enterprises Authority. She highlighted that registered businesses holding the Certificate of Registration are eligible to benefit from the Hustler Fund Group Loans. Encouraging unregistered MSEs to seize this opportunity, PS Mang’eni urged MSEs to register their groups and associations with MSEA to unlock the benefits and support available.

President Dr. William Ruto, in acknowledging the success of the Hustler Fund and the digitization of government services, commended the transformative power of technology. He noted that the digitization process has significantly enhanced efficiency, effectiveness, and accountability within the government, thereby reducing financial losses. The President emphasized the importance of a streamlined and transparent system that empowers regular hustlers to transact and access funds without any undue influence.
