Kenya will be represented by 300 MSEs from diverse sectors in the upcoming 21st EAC MSME Trade fair that will be held from 2nd – 12th December 2021.
The Trade fair will attract 1000 MSEs participating from EAC region with an aim of enhancing trade collaboration between the respective countries. As the lead organizer; Kenya will share a presentation on the effects of Covid-19 pandemic on MSMEs operations and recovery strategies.
The EAC Trade Fair National Organizing Committee held their second planning meeting on 19th October 2021. The Chairperson and MSEA DG/CEO Henry Rithaa called upon the County Government and MSEs Associations to prepare adequately in identifying high quality products for positioning in the region during the fair. He noted the need for MSEs to have a diverse representation of the locally made in Kenyan products.
The products ought to have met the required export market standards, quality and proper packaging. This will be achieved through support and collaboration from the various multi Agencies in the Ministry of Industrialization, Trade and Enterprise Development
Mr. Rithaa noted that picking lessons learned from past trade fairs will further guide on areas of improvement for better results.
‘This trade fair is a platform for locally made products, we should avoid any display of imported products, He said’.
EAC is developing an e-commerce portal which will act as a marketing platform for the best products identified during the trade fair from the participating countries. Proposals on recognising and awarding the best exhibitions stands are also ongoing.
